Dr. Calderon’s primary objectives in attending the World Food Prize, October 16-18 in Des Moines Iowa, were to represent the 4W Initiative and CALS Global. A key area of focus was on the promotion of global wellbeing and full participation of women in society, as well as advancing the CALS priority themes (Healthy ecosystems, Bioenergy & bioproducts, Food Systems, Health & Wellness, Changing climate, Economic & community development). She returned with key insights regarding greater participation of UW and women in global agriculture, as well as many wonderful new contacts and funding opportunities.
