CALS Global is excited to announce that Geoffrey Siemering, Outreach Specialist in the Department of Soil & Environmental Sciences, has been awarded the Global Research & Outreach (GRO) Award for his proposal “Colombia Climate Smart Dairy: Soil Health”.
The GRO Award supports research and outreach that advances sustainable agriculture and the life sciences, with a focus on food systems decarbonization, water sustainability, agronomic innovation, plant biology, gut microbiome & nutrition, and vector-borne disease prevention. Geoffrey’s project aligns with this mission by providing soil-focused technical training to small-scale dairy producers to small-scale dairy producers in Colombia’s Caquetá region as part of the USAID Strengthening Entrepreneurship & Enterprise Development (SEED) Sustainable Agriculture Activity (SAA) program.
This project proposes collaboration with the Colombia SAA program, currently implemented by the Palladium Group. The funding will be used to travel to Colombia for two weeks to conduct training sessions and provide technical assistance. The team will provide hands-on soil education, including site-specific soil testing and lab-based analysis.
This award recognizes Geoffrey Siemering’s commitment to sustainable agricultural development and global outreach. Congratulations, Geoff!
